Can I have a Rhinoplasty If I Have Allergies? Nasal Allergies -

An allergy is an increase in a person's reaction to substances that are naturally present in the environment. We rote this article at the request of people who had rhinoplasty in Iran. For example, some plants pollinate in the spring and cause allergies in people.

We have two types of allergies:

Seasonal allergies
Year-round (perennial) allergies
In seasonal allergies, the person develops allergy symptoms at certain times of the year. Nasal allergies are usually seasonal.

In Year-round (perennial) allergies, the affected person develops the above symptoms throughout the year.

In general, allergies are not a barrier to rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery. Your allergy can be controlled with medication.

How Will Rhinoplasty Affect My Allergies?

In this section, we tell you whether rhinoplasty or nose job improves or eradicates your allergies. Rhinoplasty itself is not a surgical option for treating nasal allergies. Functional changes to your nose make it easier to breathe.

Functional Benefits of a rhinoplasty

Correct issues that lead to breathing problems :

  • deviated septum and chronic stuffiness
  • nasal trip
  • snoring

If you have allergies and sometimes have nosebleeds, don’t worry. Allergies and nosebleeds are not a barrier to rhinoplasty. You should only take the anti-allergy medication one week before and four weeks after rhinoplasty.  Sinusitis and asthma are not barriers to surgery too. If you have asthma, it is better to be in control, that is, use your medication. You need to control both asthma, which is related to the lungs, and allergies, which are related to the nose.

Nasal allergies do not improve with surgery and you must treat them with medication.

Does the allergy get worse after the operation?

Allergies and runny noses don’t improve after surgery and don’t get worse. Surgery creates more space for swelling to arise prior to nasal obstruction. nose job won't cure allergies. But it can improve the function of your nose so you can breathe easier. It can also improve the form of your nose, such as a hump on the bridge of the nose.

Rhinoplasty operation and why allergies occur

A structural problem in the nose doesn’t cause allergies (There is any problem that you can solve with surgery). Actually, an inappropriate immune response causes allergy. Instead of ignoring some harmless particles, our immune system attacks them with antibodies. So resulting in irritation, mucus, tearing, etc. If you don’t know the cause of your allergy, the first thing to do is to go to allergies.

Some people have allergies all year round. For example, they can not breathe through the nose at night and have to breathe through the mouth. It may sound strange, but we see that some people are allergic to the following:

  • Pepper and spices
  • Some fruits like grapes and melons

Can I have surgery with seasonal allergies? When?

People usually feel nasal congestion after a nose job. Note that there are medications that you should avoid several weeks before surgery. If you suffer an allergy attack after the operation, consult with the plastic surgeon to avoid interference with healing. The best time to operate your nose depends on the allergy type you have.

If it is stationary:

Schedule the surgery in times where you do not suffer the allergy.

If you suffer it throughout the year:

There is no ideal time, your only option will be to avoid exposure to the substance that causes the symptoms.
